Two of our core values at Ki Global are trust and respect and recently we have been discussing what exactly these mean and why they are so important. 

I have always said that the world is a small, very connected place and we should not underestimate the importance of the way we treat people. Who knows who you will reconnect with in a future role, location or social situation. We need to recognize that professional standards are important; however, people are people- we are human and sometimes life takes over. How we manage and behave in situations and how we treat others is crucial to upholding the values of trust and respect. 

Recently our company has reconnected with clients from nearly 6 years ago and due to a trusting and respectful relationship, we picked up where we left off. Whilst developing our new Ki programmes, I have personally spent time discussing ideas with previous colleagues and clients who were more than happy to support and add value. Without these relationships Ki would not be growing as it is today.

This discussion led us to the balance between client/customer needs and the needs our your people. How do we balance these to ensure we build trusting and respectful relationships with both our clients/customers and our people? 

Awareness of self is vital here. Thinking about the impact your actions or behaviors have on others is crucial to getting this right. Both professionally and personally this is important. Mental health and well-being are arguably more important now than ever before so question- should I send that email? Is the tone appropriate? How will that WhatsApp message be perceived? What is going on for that person that caused a delay or a change in the way they normally work? Consideration for others whilst respecting professionalism is key.
